| Well... Just how did all this start? AND... Who are we, anyway?
My wife (Christina) and I (Rich) met in California 12 years ago as we were both finishing up our undergraduate degrees in Earth Science at the University of California, Santa Cruz. We fell wonderfully in love with one another during a 2 month long field course in the high deserts of northeastern California... and from that point on we have shaped and molded a life together... hardly spending a night apart in all that time. We have a deep and passionate relationship that is founded on a few shared core beliefs: * An overriding concern for the environment and the effects of human impacts upon it. * A deep conviction that all children deserve a well balanced, individualized, wholesome education. These convictions have developed into a non-profit organization that we created 4 years ago...Kigluait Educational Adventures... that blends our passions for the environment and education into a cohesive whole. Teaching WoW, and my running the Iditarod in support of it, are natural developments for "Kigluait" and it's goal of blending technology and outdoor education to provide learning experiences that are more fun, engrossing, and relevant to real-life than the average classroom experience. |
