Sponsors the Second Annual

Bootie-A-Thon

Thanks to all those that made pledges during the Bootie-A-Thon.
We were able to sew 750 Booties in roughly 24 hours.
So, please send along checks made out to Richard Hum:

Upon receiving the checks, we will prepare your Bootie (a bootie for each pledge) that will travel on the trail, and be sent to you from Nome. In addition, if you are a class working towards the awards, we will mail or schedule the award, based on the number of pledges or the amount sent.
We have also listed your support on out Flash Kennels page  and the Blog.

Upon completion, we realized that we only had 1/2 of the total that we needed. Upon looking at last years event, we realized we had set aside 48 hours for the 1500 booties. In addition, we have received more requests for a second Bootie-A-thon from other schools. So, the plan is to complete the next 750 Booties over the next 2 weeks, with a second culminating event on February
9th via web cam. So if you know other classes or folks that would be interested in participating, please send the weblink along. In addition, if your class would like to continue to collect pledges to earn other awards, please do so, and fax us your pledge sheets and send along the check. We will in turn send and arrange the awards.

Now it is time to help with the 2007 Iditarod and Junior Iditarod Races!!

Welcome to our Bootie-A-Thon!!

Help support the Mushing Brothers, Richard Hum and Charlie Allison, in their quest to run the 2007 Iditarod and Junior Iditarod. Join us in our Bootie-A-Thon as we sew our way to Nome with 1,500 booties:

DATE/Time: January 15th 6:00 a.m. to January 16th 12:00 p.m.  Alaska Standard Time

WHAT IS IT? The Bootie-A-Thon is a fundraising event to help support Flash Kennels in running the Iditarod and Jr. Iditarod and in bringing the mushing lifestyle to all of you through videoconferencing and the Internet. ("Booties" are little fabric "shoes" for sled dog's feet. They protect them form sharp ice and snow. Every Iditarod musher needs around 1500 of them to run the race! Most folks buy them...but we make them and turn it into a big party, to-boot! (pun intended))

WHAT CAN YOU DO? It is simple, pledge that you will donate to us either 2 cents or 5 cents for every bootie we sew within the 30 hours. Our goal is to sew 1500 booties. Complete a pledge form online or print this form and mail, fax, or email the completed form using the information below.
