| Of all the stuff and time going
into racing the Iditarod, the budget is the most unwelcome, un-fun, stressfull thing I have to deal with! Picking up pop, feeding, fixing harnesses, making lines, lack of sleep, cold... all these things are so much easier to manage than the gathering, and keeping track of all the money it takes to run this race! To be honest that's why I like mushing in the first place... a dislike, or lack of apptitude, for money and the societal structure supported by it... to be out in wonderful, raw, wildplaces and only need to think about the most basic of needs... food... clothing.... shelter... That's where I am most comfortable But I live in a real world with real world dreams and goals... one of them being to race my dogs from Anchorage to Nome and see just how well we stack up against other folks teams. So money it is that I have to deal with! Like it or NOT! |
